Elizabeth “Bette” Ann (Sokoloski) Szablewski, 88, of Carlisle, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Monday, July 26, 2021.
She was born December 16, 1932, in Scott Township to the late John and Stella (Lisowski) Sokoloski.
Prior to her move to Carlisle, she lived in New Jersey and worked in New York City for Dun and Bradstreet where she retired after 35 years. Bette was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed being a volunteer greeter at the Carlisle Hospital. Bette Z, as she was known, was an active member of the Eastgate Community in Carlisle for 12 years. Even though Bette didn’t have children of her own, she was very proud of her many nieces and nephews. There were lots of sporting events, plays, graduations, showers, and weddings that Aunt Bette would never miss. She was an avid reader, adored animals, and cherished time playing games and socializing with her friends. Bette was loved by all who met her.
She is survived by her sister, Florence Gardoski of Kingsley, PA and many nieces and nephews. Her nieces Lynn Fickes and Karen Gensler, both of Newville, PA, were loving caregivers for their aunt. In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by four brothers, John Jr., Robert, Raymond, and Theodore Sokoloski.
A service celebrating Bette’s life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Township, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bette to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive Carlisle, PA 17015.
