Elizabeth A. Mackel, 81, of Carlisle died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her home.
Born July 8, 1932 in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Ozga Barron and the widow of Adam J. Mackel.
She was formerly employed by National Ticket Company, Shamokin and as a seamstress for many years at Orweco Frocks Dress Factory, Mechanicsburg. She also worked as a Dietary Aid at Sara A. Todd Memorial Home and in food prep at Hoss's, Carlisle. Betty was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping at the beach. Betty was especially fond of dogs and was a breeder for many years.
Surviving are one son, James Mackel (and wife, Jayne) of Torrington, CT; one brother, Eddie Barron of Shamokin; six grandchildren, James J., Danielle, Emily, Eddie, Jauneen, and Jordon; one great-grandson, Corey; four step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Bart, and Joshua; five step-great-grandchildren, Markie, Mia, Jonathan, Joseph, and Melody. She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank; four sisters, Madeline, Anna, Helen, and Leona; and one step-great-grandson, Mikah.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May, 12, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle with Rev. William C. Forrey as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle.
