Edward S. Gyurko, Sr.

Edward S. Gyurko, Sr., age 84, of Manheim, formerly of Carlisle, PA passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born March 30, 1934 in Upper Lehigh, PA to the late Anna (Korol) and George Gyurko, Sr. He was the husband of Doris E. (Baker) Gyurko, whom he married May 1, 1965.

Ed retired from Carlisle Barracks in 1990.

He loved to fish and had a special green thumb at gardening. He also loved fishing in Ocean City, NJ with his nephew, Vince, trying to catch those flounders. Ed was a member of the Carlisle Moose Lodge No. 761.

Ed is survived by his loving wife Doris, two children, Edward Jr. and his partner Hanspeter and their son Jasper of London, UK; and daughter, Mary Beth and her husband Chad Bowser and their children Kaylee and Cameron of Manheim; and several nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed spending time with and loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Angela; brothers, George, Jr. and Mike; and sister, Dorothy.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. Per the family’s request, casual dress is requested. Burial will be held at a later date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory.
