Edward Pasquale Ryder, 90, formerly of Rahns, PA, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle, PA.
Born April 26, 1924 in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Louis Guy and Mary E. (Morrison) Ryder and the widower of Elizabeth (Paskie) Ryder.
Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II (1943-1946). He was a lifetime member of the Manatawny Detachment, Marine Corps League, Chapter #450 Pottstown, PA, and was active in the local American Legion and VFW. His accomplishments include: Master Carpenter, Scout Master, Building Inspector, area Democratic party leader, Carpentry Vo-Tech Teacher, and Meals on Wheels volunteer. Edward owned and operated his own construction company before beginning his teaching career, retiring from North Montgomery County Vocational Technical School after eighteen years.
Edward enjoyed using his time and talents to help family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, grand/great-grand father, uncle and a good friend to all. Living a life of compassion and service, he touched many lives with his kindness, wisdom and sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by three children, Paul (and wife Christine) Ryder of Enola, Lisa Ruiz of East Norriton and Deborah (and husband Gregory) Puskar of Camp Hill; a brother, William Ronald Ryder (and wife Elizabeth) of Limerick; a sister, Jean Ackerman of Spring City; four grandchildren, Rebecca Schiele, Tamara Crowe Ng, Eric Ryder and Elizabeth Ryder; five step grandchildren, Serena Ruiz, Disa Mikula, Annique Ruiz-Brown, Jeffrey Puskar and Jennifer Paxton, ten great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis Ryder and Charles Ryder, and by his son-in-law SCPO Thomas Ruiz.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, December 27, 2014 at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 311 Second Street, Schwenksville, PA with Pastor Dan Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be between 10:00 am to11:00 am in the church's narthex. Burial will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
