Edith Katherine (Stauffer) Mixell

Edith Katherine (Stauffer) Mixell, 96, of Carlisle, was called home to Heaven on Thursday, April 26, 2018.
She was born in Harrisburg Hospital on October 22, 1921 to the late John J. Stauffer and Grace E. (Koovell) Stauffer.
Edith was a graduate of Scotland High School and Scotland High School for Orphans. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, spending time with family and friends, high school reunions, and watching her favorite television shows. Edith was employed by Reeves Hoffman as a crystal manufacturer and x ray operator for thirty years.
Edith is survived by: her daughter, Sandra K. Grove and her companion Johnny of Newville; her son, John R. (and wife Pat) Mixell Sr. of Carlisle; a half sister, Georgianna of Middletown; 1 niece; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Leroy D. “Mike” Mixell; her sister, Francis Boyer; two daughters, Emelie Cassell and Linda Newhouse; two grandchildren, David Cassell and Tammy Hoover and one great-grandson, Joshua Cassell.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA, with Pastor Alan Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
