Earl L. Goodell, age 59, of Carlisle, passed away suddenly at his home after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.
He was born June 12, 1958 in Norfolk, VA to the late Manford Charles and Virginia Rose (Pope) Goodell.
Earl was a cook at Theo’s Restaurant in Camp Hill for over 20 years, had previously worked at Tavern on the Hill and Red Lobster, Mechanicsburg and was known for his French Onion and Split Pea soups. He also worked for GNS Construction off and on for 15 years. Earl enjoyed bicycling, bowling, water skiing, watching old movies and especially enjoyed Paul McCartney music. He had a photographic memory and loved to reminisce with his friends. Earl had a huge heart and would give anyone the shirt off his back.
He is survived by: his wife, Lili (Lavelle) Goodell of Carlisle; two brothers, Ralph Goodell and Charlie Goodell, both of Virginia; two sisters, Charva Jolliffe of Littlestown and Teresa Crum of Millersburg; his step-mother, Connie Goodell of Granville; two step-children, Cory Gebhart and Jennifer Gebhart; three grandchildren; five nieces, Laura Waddell, Lauren Crum, Lisa Stewart, Amanda Crum and Stephanie Goodell; two nephews, David Goodell and Scott Goodell; and his best friend, Gus Graehling of Carlisle. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his son, Earl Goodell, Jr.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
