Douglas S. Beattie, age 58, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his residence.
He was born on March 24, 1957 in McKeesport, PA to the late Stewart D. Beattie and Nancy Berger Beattie of Carlisle.
Douglas was a graduate of Carlisle High School. He had worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, most currently, as Postmaster in Newville. He was co-owner of Country-Aire Kennels for 32 years. He was a Pittsburgh sports fan especially the Steelers and the Penguins. He enjoyed history, historical miniatures and playing history based board/computer games.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lisa F. Foltz Beattie of Carlisle; a son, Stewart D. (and wife Emily) Beattie of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Erica R. Beattie of Carlisle; a brother, Gordon (and wife Karen) Beattie of Carlisle; and two sisters, Beth (and husband Tom) Coolidge of Carlisle and Barb (and husband Donnie) Jumper of Felton DE; father and mother in law Robert and Gayle Foltz of Carlisle and sister in law Jen (and husband Scott) Nailor of Carlisle and Jackie (and husband John) Dommel of York.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W. Gibelius and Rev. Jennifer J. McKenna officiating. There will be a reception in the rotunda immediately following the service at the church on Saturday.
