Dorothy Elizabeth Evans, 94, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
She was born August 26, 1925 in Wilson to the late Frederick Gaius and Mazie Iceline (Grant) Smith and was the widow of James Leroy Evans.
Dorothy was a graduate of Nyack College in Nyack, NY. She served with her 1st husband in pastoral ministry for 29 years. Dorothy worked as a clerical supervisor for many years at the Area Agency on Aging in Mifflin County. She was well known for her blueberry pies, peanut butter fudge and her decorative mints.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, Douglas G. (wife Julie) Conley of Frederick, MD, Ernest S. (wife Donna) Conley of Pittsburgh, and Jeffrey P. (wife Angie) Conley of Meadville; two sisters, Audrey Lewis of Titusville and Eilene (husband Rod) Furniss of New Philadelphia, OH; one sister-in-law, Barbara Riale of The Brogue; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Rev. Jack G. Conley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 South Hanover Street Carlisle, PA 17013 with the Rev. Steve Motter officiating. Burial will follow at Montoursville Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until the time of the service at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
