Dorothy Bunch of Carlisle passed away on Thursday, July 18th, at UPMC Carlisle Hospital at the age of 102. Born on December 24th, 1921 in Nicholasville, KY, she was the daughter of the late William and Patsie (Masters) Vincent. She was the much beloved wife of the late Ernest Bunch.
Dorothy’s life was centered around her faith and family. She spent most of her years in Lexington, KY, moving to Carlisle, PA after retirement to be closer to family. She was a devoted member of Saint Patrick Church in Carlisle, cherished her volunteer work at Project Share Food Pantry, and loved cheering on her Kentucky Wildcats. Before retiring, she worked as Lead Cashier for Walgreens Drug Store Corporation for over 25 years, where her dedication and warm personality made her a beloved community figure. In recognition of her service, Walgreens honored Dorothy by renaming the street where her store was located in her name.
She is survived by her daughters, Saundra Calhoun of Carlisle, PA and Crystal Pafford (husband Hugh) of Atlanta, GA; grandsons John Calhoun Jr. (wife Emma) and Taylor Calhoun (wife Emily); granddaughter Ashley Rader (Pafford, husband Hugh); and great-grandsons Samuel, Jacob, and Noah Calhoun. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Vernie, and her son-in-law John P. Calhoun.
Service details will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dorothy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
