Doris M. Nickey, age 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Church of God Home in Carlisle.
She was born on October 1, 1922 in Chambersburg to the late Forrest and Myra Zeek Martin and was the widow of Robert A. Nickey.
Doris owned several businesses in Carlisle and the surrounding area, including a beauty salon in Mt. Holly Springs; Nickey's Pastry Shop in Carlisle; Nickey's Bar & Restaurant in Carlisle; the Sportsman's Inn in Shermans Dale; and the William Tell Inn in Adams County. She also sold real estate for Century 21 in the Carlisle area.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. (and wife Annette) Nickey of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, Wilbur (and wife Shirley) Martin and Garnet Ray Martin, all of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Lauren C. (and husband Mark) Engle and Robert C. (and wife Brie) Nickey; and two great-grandchildren, Madison G. Engle and Liam C. Delaney. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Peg Ilgenfritz.
Private graveside services will be held at Westminster Cemetery at the convenience of the family with Rev. Bradley V. Moore officiating. There will be a viewing from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA.
