Doris Jean Horn

Doris Jean Horn, 76, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday August 9, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Doris was the daughter of the late Virginia Dunkleberger, James Dunkleberger, and Richard Whisler.

Doris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Arthur E. Horn Sr. Two daughters, Kimberly (Ronald) Hicks, Carlisle, Teresa A. (Martin) Sheely, Mechanicsburg. One son, Arthur E. (Ruth) Horn Jr., Manheim. Six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Phyllis (Harry) Weaver, Saundra (Mark) VanMeter, and Dixie (Brad) Barrick.

Doris was a longtime Carlisle resident and worked 37 years for the Reeves Hoffman plant in Carlisle and later at the Cumberland Valley Kids Club. The most important part of her life was her family. She was affectionately known as Gram to all of her grandkids and many more people and rarely missed a sporting event or activity they were participating in.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Community Christian Fellowship Church, 360 York Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. The family will greet guests from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
