Doris A. Brackbill

Doris A. Brackbill, 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.

She was born July 15, 1931, in Mechanicsburg to the late Sylvan and Anna (Taylor) Wood. Doris was the widow of Lee Brackbill Jr. who passed in July of 2009 after they enjoyed 59 years of marriage.

Doris was a 1949 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She retired from Daily Express as an executive secretary after many years of employment. Doris was a longtime, faithful member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs. She was also a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Old Bel Air Chapter 375. In her free time, Doris enjoyed perfecting her skills as a seamstress and watching and entertaining her grandchildren who she loved so much.

Doris is survived by one son, Donald (wife Susan) Brackbill of Boiling Springs; one daughter, Carol (husband Steven) Barrett of Carlisle; three grandchildren, Matthew (wife Meagan) Brackbill of Mt. Holly Springs, Cory Brackbill of Mt. Holly Springs, and Katie (husband Mark) Fuller of Mechanicsburg; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Nevin (wife Gayle) Wood of Mt. Holly Springs; one sister, Mildred Skelly of Mechanicsburg; one sister-in-law, Brenda Wood (late Marlin) of Mechanicsburg; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by a brother, Richard Wood and his wife Shirley.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 111 Walnut Street Boiling Springs, PA 17007 with Rev. Kevin Stout officiating. The burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Churchtown.
