Donnie C. Ausby, Sr. (Ret. U.S. Army MSG), age 66, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He was born on February 10, 1949 in Vero Beach, FL to the late Claude B. Ausby, Sr. and Inez Ausby.
Donnie retired as a Military Police Officer with the USA Readiness Group at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA. He was a member of Mt. Victory United Methodist Church in Gardners. Donnie enjoyed collecting Lionel model trains and customizing his 1987 Soft Tail Harley Davidson motorcycle. He had worked as a carpenter at the former Holly Woodcrafters in Mt. Holly Springs. Above all he enjoyed helping and encouraging anyone that he came in contact with as well as spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty J. Sipe Ausby of Carlisle; two sons, Donnie C. Ausby, Jr. of Miami, FL and Raymond E. Ausby of Carlisle; three daughters, Ava A. (and husband Todd) Menefee of Atlanta, GA, Christian N. Wilson of Carlisle and Keondra S. Dawson-Ausby of Carlisle; two brothers, Benjamin Ausby of Stuart, FL and Arthur Ausby, Sr. of Palm Beach, FL; three sisters, Ethel Ausby, Barbara Ausby-Williams and Helen Ausby, all of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Ausby, Jr. and Charles Ausby; and two sisters, Carolyn Ausby and Ellinora Ausby.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Thomas Phillips and Rev. Dr. Bryan Mann officiating. Interment will be private. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, 1 Victory Church Lane, Gardners, PA 17324.
