Donald S. Austin, Jr.

Donald S Austin, Jr., 65, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at UPMC Carlisle.
He was born July 6, 1955 in Gettysburg to the late Donald S Sr. & Alice (Agnew) Austin. From 1973-1976, Don served proudly in the U. S. Army.
From his grandparent’s restaurant in upstate New York to the military, his career in cooking began. He went on to become a gifted chef in many restaurants in the Philadelphia area. He returned to the Gettysburg/ Carlisle area where he continued his love of cooking until he retired.
He was a family man who believed that family came first, but was always there to help others in need.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debra (Mulhern) Austin, three sons, Steven Austin, David (Susan) Aughinbaugh, David (Bridget) Austin, all of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his brother Anthony (Linda) Austin, of Gardners, Pa, his sister Annette (Michael) Byrne, of Harrisburg, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Saint Patrick’s Church of Carlisle, Pa.
