Donald K. "Don" Heishman

Donald K. “Don” Heishman, 87, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at UPMC Carlisle.
He was born August 20, 1933 in Mechanicsburg to the late Roy L. and Lola W. (Garrett) Heishman.
Don was a 1950 graduate of Carlisle High School. He honorably served his country in the US Army from 1952 -1955. Don was formerly employed by the PA Turnpike Commission, Harrisburg Dairies, PPG Industries, and was the owner/operator of D.K. Heishman Mowing. He loved sports and was a fan of NC Tarheels Basketball, the Washington Redskins, Penn State Nittany Lions, and especially Carlisle High School athletics where his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated. Don was a former member of the North Middleton Rec. Board, a board member and coach of many softball organizations in the Carlisle area and for North Middleton Baseball. He was a former member of Waggoners United Methodist Church. Don always looked forward to having breakfast with his friends at John’s Hideaway.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, JoAnn E. (Blackburn) Heishman of Carlisle; three daughters, Cindy (husband Chuck) Bear, Cathy Raraigh, and Caryn (husband Barry) Wilson all of Carlisle; 8 grandchildren, Corey (wife Megan) Bear and their children, Alexis and Nathan, Craig (wife Christa) Bear and their children, Aaron, Benjamin, Colston, and Donovan, Duff Raraigh, Joey (partner Nicole) Wilson and their daughter, Charlee, Carly (husband Wes) Snider and their children, Colton, Riley, Bryce, and Landon, Jake (wife Elizabeth) Wilson and their daughter, Emily, Caity (husband Travis) Ruhl and their son, Nolan, and Jarrett Wilson; three sisters, Helen Maguire, Betty Carpenter, and Darlene Stringfellow; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kim C. Raraigh; and seven brothers and sisters, Garrett, Gerald, Edythe, Clifford, Wayne, Jack, and Joyce.
Per Don’s request, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Carlisle Sports Assoc. In Care of Treasurer, 1097 Longs Gap Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
