Dolores Ann Weber

July 5, 2015, in Carlisle, PA, the avian spirited soul of Dolores Ann (nee Gamba) Weber took flight to the tender embrace of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
After years of medical challenges and other tribulations, Dolores left this world resting in
the arms of her devoted husband, another of her life's crosses, Eugene "Gene" Joseph Weber (Paralegal, Public Defender Office, Cumberland Co.), (father, Francis "Frank" J., mother Elizabeth "Betty", nee Delany).
"D" or "Dee" was born May 5, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY to the former U.S. Army, 27th Div., Pearl Harbor veteran, and "jack of all trades" James "Jim" R. (deceased) and devoted homemaker, Catherine "Kay" A. (nee Campbell, deceased) Gamba. Dee was the youngest of three sisters, eldest Mary C. (formerly Dino) Gamba and Caroline M. (nee Gamba) Massaro, (William V., deceased), who throughout their family life resided in Brooklyn, NY, Passaic and Clifton, NJ.
Dee attended St. Anthony of Padua Parish School, Passaic, Clifton MS and Clifton HS (Class of '70) excelling in Theater, Art, and Mechanical Drawing (the first female CHS student to take the course). Dee graduated from Ramapo College, Mahwah, NJ, Class of '75, it's first: a Theater Production major and Art minor, her parents believing she'd gone there to study nursing.
In 1978, Dee worked costumes and set design for The Theater at Monmouth, ME on productions of Rosencranzt and Guilderstein are Dead, As You Like It, and Volpone. In 1979, Dee was Costume Designer for the Gateway Playhouse, Bellport, NY production of Chicago, a Musical Vaudville and Same Time Next Year. In 1980, she worked costumes/sets design in the musical Grease for Theater by-the-Sea, Matunuck, RI.
A member of Theatrical Wardrobe Union Local 764, Dee's professional career included: Costume Coordinator for Playhouse on the Square, Memphis, TN production Marte Sade; Wardrobe Mistress, Eastside Playhouse, NY, NY productions M'lle Modiste, The Mikado, and Patience; and under similar titles or as designer, Theater De Lys, NY, NY, Billy Bishop Goes to War; 18th Street Playhouse, NY, NY, Little Blue Stars: Vaslav Nijinsky, 1919; Theater Off Park, NY, NY, The Death and Resurrection of Mr. Roche; and Charles Theater, Baltimore, MD Little Shop of Horrors.
"Miss Dee, Stitch Queen", was head dresser to Patti LaBelle in the musical play Your Arms Are Too Short to Box with God; jazz vocalist Ruth Brown in Black and Blue, a Musical Review; and James Earl Jones in A Lesson from Aloe. She occasionally worked with the NYC Ballet and Opera and Radio City Music Hall.
Dee endured numerous US and Canadian cross country tours with such shows as Sugar Babies, Evita, and Sing, Mahalia Sing. Tango Argentino brought her to Venezuela. She ended her career in 1992 as the Wardrobe Supervisor for Andrew Lloyd Weber's tour play Aspects of Love.
Gene and Dee met in October 1991 at the Fair Lawn Art Assoc., Fair Lawn, NJ shortly before Aspects launched its U.S./Canadian tour. Dee supplemented her income as an artist's model, and just home from a five month trip to Europe, Gene, part time artist and professional draftsman, stepped into the studio during her pose. Dee, naked and fit to be tied, however witnessed a warm reception given to him. Later, seeing his drawings of her, she had a change of heart resulting in the two eventually becoming one. They married June 25, 1994 at the home of James R. McGrath, Allendale, NJ, and again by Rite of the Roman Catholic Church May 16, 1998 at St. Paul Parish, Prospect Park, NJ.
From the time he was five, Dee loved and cared for Gene's son, Thaddeus T. Weber (b., Nov. 13, 1986, mother, Therese (formerly Tolomeo-Weber, nee Tolomeo) like her own. Her other loves were her Shih Tzus, Chachi and Blanche; her sister's dogs, Bridie and Pongo; and the birds and animals of the sky and earth.
From 1992 to 2007, Gene and Dee were members of St. Michael the Archangel
Parish, Paterson, NJ and then St. Paul Parish. From 1998 to 2007, Dee was a St. Paul Parish Youth Minister and the Costume/Set Designer for St. Paul's Players Community Theater Group productions of My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and Nunsense. As fundraisers for the Players, she wrote, designed, and directed three dinner mystery theater shows titled Murder by Pizza, O'Flarity Wakes, and Who Said It was Murder?
A certificated florist and horticulturalist, and professional home gardener Dee made great strides to create her prized North Haledon, NJ and Carlisle home gardens. She last worked for the United Food and Commercial Workers as a supermarket deli clerk.
In August 2007, Gene and Dee then moved to Lower Allen Twp. (St. Joseph Parish), in September 2008, Carlisle, and in 2009 became St. Patrick Parish members. Dee's last "theatrical production" position was as Set Designer for the original Christmas musical, They Rode for Us, written and composed by fellow parishioner Jeff VanderHeijden.
Her life's final dream work was to write and illustrate a children's book. In 2014, Tate Publishing Children's Div. published Downthelane Bears by D.G. Weber. The story continues with two unfinished sequels and her husband's hope is that one day a more seasoned writer will take up recreating those works for Dee posthumously.
Dee leaves behind brothers and sisters-in-law; Francis J. (Deacon of the Church) and Debbie Weber (son Michael, daughter Reneé), Rev. Dennis M. Weber, S.C., Gerard Weber (sons, Jerry Jr., Kyle and Joshua), Rev. Matthew R. Weber, Jim and Monica Kelly (nee Weber) (daughters Deirdre, Tara, and Maura), and Jeff and Kathy Rich, (nee Weber) (son Zac Buckley, father Michael). She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Thomas V. Weber (son Thomas Jr., adoptive name Nerney; daughters, Kelly and Chrissy Weber, mother Patty, formerly Weber, Eaton), as well as nieces, Jennifer Dino (fiancé Marc Zanetti), and Kristie Dino (daughter, Kylie Gingeras, son, Austin Gingeras, father Stephen), plus grandnieces and grandnephews in Gene's family.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at St. Patrick Shrine Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 with the Very Rev. William C. Forrey as celebrant and Rev. Dennis M. Weber co-officiating. Private interment will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church and continue up until the time of the service.
