Dixie L. Runk

Dixie L. Blazer Runk, age 73, of Carlisle passed away suddenly Saturday, May 5, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Mechanicsburg, PA June 20, 1944 to the late Carl and Alvadee Zinn Blazer and was the widow of Earl R. Runk who passed July 2, 1992.

Dixie was an LPN for over 40 years retiring from the Church of God Home in Carlisle. She attended nursing school at the former Carlisle Hospital. She was a member of Great Hope Baptist Church, Carlisle, where she was the church organist. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and doing puzzles. Her loving family met the most to her.

She is survived by two sons; Paul C. and wife Selena Runk of Newville, Michael A. and wife Rebecca Runk of Red Lion; a daughter, Paulette C. Runk of Carlisle; three sisters, Phyllis Shoop, Camp Hill, Shirley Snyder of Newberrytown, and Linda Aloise of Shermansdale; three brothers, Charles and Ronald Blazer, both of Mechanicsburg and Larry Blazer of Newberrytown; one grandson, Jacob Frey and four adopted grandchildren; Adam Myrick, Amanda and Kai Jones, and Madisyn Nickey.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Great Hope Baptist Church, 110 Fern Avenue, Carlisle with the Reverends Dale and Joel Barrick officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to time of services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Great Hope Baptist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
