Dennis Owen Chestnut, age 64, of East Berlin, PA passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Hanover Hospital.
He was born January 13, 1952 in Carlisle to V. June (Weigle) Adams of Carlisle and the late Kenneth B. Chestnut.
Dennis was employed by Appleton Papers, Inc. in Mechanicsburg for 23 years and retired from Daflure Heating & Cooling in New Cumberland. He was a member of the Overview Anglers, East Berlin Fish & Game Association and Dellville United Methodist Church and was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299 of Carlisle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Roxanne L. (Witmer) Chestnut of East Berlin; children, Andrea R. (and husband Jess) Dowell of East Berlin and Christopher D. Chestnut (and companion Stacey Walsh) of York; siblings, Richard C. (and wife Carren) Chestnut of Boiling Springs and Shari (and husband Merrell) Weary of New Oxford; four grandchildren, Avery Dowell, Jesse Dowell, Rhys Chestnut and Kahlan Chestnut; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Chestnut and a niece, Jennifer Chestnut.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Linda Titzell officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central PA Chapter, 55 S. Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17109, the United Way, 2235 Millennium Way, Enola, PA 17025 or to the East Berlin Fish & Game Association, 1808 Fish and Game Road, East Berlin, PA 17316.
