Dennis Marion

Dennis Marion, age 62, of Carlisle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born July 17, 1954 in Newark, NJ to the late Francis and Louise (Sheridan) Marion.
Dennis served as the PA Deputy Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services from 2013 to the present. Prior to his state employment, Dennis served Cumberland County for 31 years in various positions including; Director of the Drug & Alcohol Commission, Director of the Office of Mental Health/Mental Retardation, Director of the Board of Elections and as County Administrator and Chief County Clerk. Dennis was committed to community service and served on many boards and committees. He enjoyed coaching youth soccer for many years and served on the board of directors of CAYS. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and served many years as an active member of the School Board.
He is survived by: his wife, Camille (Cardoni) Marion; daughter, Anna Marion; sister-in-law, Carol Marion; nephews, Kelly and Dennis Marion; and niece, Kate Marion. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Marion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA with the Very Rev. William C. Forrey as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, McClures Gap Road, Carlisle. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Fellowship, 99 Mooreland Ave., Carlisle, PA 17013 and to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
