David O. Lillich

David O. Lillich Jr., 85 of Carlisle, died Saturday February 25, 2012 in his home.
Born on November 23, 1926 in Jackson Twp, York County, the son of the late David O. and Carrie Stambaugh Lillich.
Mr. Lillich graduated from West York High School, while serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII, initially in the US Army and later in the Army Air Corps, and from Gettysburg College in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree. He was owner of Plough and Lillich Insurance Agency for 45 years.
David was a board member of the Bosler Free Library and the former Carlisle Hospital for many years. A member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, he filled various positions including past treasurer and council member. He was on the Board of Directors and was a Trustee at the Carlisle Family YMCA for many years, and was a member of the Carlisle Rotary Club where he was past president. He was a Board Member at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home and the United Way of Carlisle and was a member of the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce. David was also a President of the Washington Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Lillich was raised on a farm and always maintained an interest in farming.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Barbara G. B. Lillich, a son, David O. Lillich III and his wife Joan E., Clifton, VA and a granddaughter, Lindsay A. Lillich. He was preceded in death by a brother, George F. Lillich.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday March 3, 2012 in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 E. High St., Carlisle with the Rev. Charles A. Brophy officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 10:00 am Saturday until the time of the service in the church.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle is handling the arrangements.
