David N. Hinaman, Sr.

December 24, 1924 — August 28, 2019

David N. Hinaman, Sr. 94, of Newville, PA formerly of Williamsport, PA died on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Green Ridge Village Retirement Center, Newville, PA with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Mansfield, PA on December 24, 1924 to the late Arthur W. and Mildred Remick Hinaman.
David retired as a union carpenter from Local #691 and had worked for many contractors in the Greater Lycoming area. He served his country honorable in the US Navy during WWII stationed on the USS Eaton, USS McGowan and the USS Munda Bay. David was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Williamsport, PA where he was an authorized Lay Minister and he sang in the choir. He was a former Cub Scout Leader. David was one of the first “original little league players” in 1939 for Jumbo Pretzel in Williamsport, PA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice Carrie Cupp Hinaman of Newville, PA, two sons; Gary S. Hinaman, Roaring Branch, PA, Brigadier General US Army (Ret) Arthur W. and his wife Judy Hinaman of Leonardtown, MD, four daughters; Cynthia L. Charters and husband David of Cary, NC, Tacey R. Cullen and husband Denny of Mechanicsburg, PA, Doris M. Quail and husband Terry of Newville, Lori E. Zellefrow and husband Lou of Westminster, MD. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Trinka Hinaman. He was preceded in death by a son David N. Hinaman, Jr. who passed on June 15 of this year and a granddaughter Erin Hinaman, 5 brothers and one sister.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA. with the Vicar Thomas Busteed and Rev. Anna Rose Reeves officiating. There will be a visitation at the funeral on Tuesday from 10:00 AM till time of services. Interment will be private in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Montgomery, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts in David’s name be made to Cancer Care Pinnacle Health Foundation P.O. Box 8700 Harrisburg, PA 17101.
