David Warner Hopcraft, 76, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg.
He was born in Harrisburg on February 5, 1949, to the late Donald M. and Ann (Warner) Hopcraft.
He graduated from Boiling Springs High School and attended Gettysburg College and The Ohio State University. David owned and operated an insurance agency in Carlisle for many years. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Buckeyes, and was an avid reader. An animal lover, David enjoyed afternoons with his grandpups, Truman and Teddy.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; four children: Jonathan (Courtney) Hopcraft of Carlisle, Stephen (Christina) Vican of Cordova, Alaska, Sarah (Timothy) Heiser of Carlisle, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Faisant of Pittsburgh; sister, Alvilda Graf, of Newville; and 11 grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 17, at 11 a.m. at the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, 290 Petersburg Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David's honor to Speranza Animal Rescue at speranzarescue.org/donate.
