David Edward "Ted" Lutz, 88, of Carlisle, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born April 26, 1925 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Urie David and Helen Brindle Lutz.
He was a graduate of Carlisle High School and attended Harvard University. David earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Dickinson College, Carlisle. He was the founder and creator of Daily Express Inc., Sea Wheels Inc. and a mentor to Master Solutions, Inc. development. David was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle and the Naples Unity Church, Naples, FL. He was a strong supporter of various local community organizations and a recipient of the United Way Humanitarian Award in 2005. David was a lifelong trumpet player and a member of numerous orchestras throughout his life. He was an accomplished pilot and avid boater. David was very handy and liked working with wood and enjoyed painting ducks. He was a US Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-five years, June Burkholder Lutz of Carlisle; two children, David W. Lutz of Carlisle and Virginia Helen Lutz Smith of Boiling Springs; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle with Rev. Jennifer J. McKenna officiating.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
