Daune M. Evans died peacefully surrounded by her family at UPMC Carlisle on September 29, 2021.
She was born in Linz, Austria to the late John and Helen McKenrick. She was raised in Gettysburg, PA along with her two sisters, Elaine Adams and Rose Beckwith, and two brothers, John McKenrick (Wendy) and David McKenrick (Rose). She graduated from Delone Catholic High School, then Shippensburg University. She began her career as a teacher. Daune then worked in accounts receivable at Seawheels, Inc. She also worked as a safety director for All American Truck Stops. Daune worked in member services at Members 1st until her retirement.
She was a Red Hat lady and a volunteer at Bosler Memorial Library. Daune very much enjoyed spending time with and doing anything for her grandchildren and was an avid reader. She was very well known for her kind and loving ways. Daune will be missed and remembered by many.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James P. Evans; her two daughters, Kelly E. Klacik (Patrick) and Katherine E. Sliger; three grandchildren, Kara E. Fitting, Benjamin A. Caldwell, and Zachary J. Caldwell; and one great-grandson, Eon L. Pease.
She attended Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Debbie Brumbaugh will be officiating Daune’s service at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. The family will have a private burial at their convenience at Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Daune to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 325 Old Stonehouse Road South Boiling Springs, PA 17007 or to the Bosler Memorial Library, 158 West High Street Carlisle, PA 17013.
