Dale Allen Hughes, 74, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on May 30, 1940 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Dale S. and Helen Martine Hughes.
Dale was proud to serve his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired after 22 years of service. He loved airplanes and trains and loved to travel by train to Arizona, Texas and Montana. He also liked to build model airplanes. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. His great love was his grandchildren.
He is survived by his four daughters, Shirley Hughes of Arizona, Melanie Reed of Texas, Robin Glatz of Carlisle and Amy Friel of Ohio; one sister, Sara Armstrong of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Moreno and Cheryl Douglas and a grandson, Curtis Hughes.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther Street, Carlisle with Rev. Robert W. Moore officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
