D. Joan Godfrey, age 79, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Carlisle, PA.
She was born October 19, 1936 in Kingston, PA to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Bolton) Miller.
Joan was a graduate of Wilkes University and the University of Pennsylvania. She was a public health nurse and helped to start the nursing program at Millersville University. Joan was later an executive for a healthcare company. She was a volunteer at the Mountville Library, AseriCare Hospice, and the Hempfield Women's Club. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Lancaster where she was also a Deacon. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two sons, E. Ralph (and wife Donna) Godfrey of Carlisle and Jeffrey C. (and wife Shannon) Godfrey of New Providence; grandchildren, Megan. Ryan, Drew, Shane, Tristen and Cameron Godfrey; and siblings, Ralph Miller of Mechanicsburg and Nancy (and husband Duane) Kaufman of IL.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Salem United Church of Christ, 2312 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Laverne DiNino officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
