D. Jean Line

July 13, 1933 — December 16, 2016

D. Jean Line, age 83, of Boiling Springs, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at her home with her loving husband by her side.
She was born in Altoona on July 13, 1933 to the late Earl and Mabel Hammann.
Jean was an active member of the community, working for 32 years in the South Middleton School District, most recently as secretary of the W. G. Rice Elementary School. She regularly volunteered at the polls and was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs where she participated in a quilting group. Jean enjoyed helping her husband in the garden and was an incredible seamstress and baker, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful quilts and delicious pies. Jean's Boiling Springs home, like her heart, was always open and welcomed a constant stream of family and friends. She will be remembered most of all for her playful smirk and her endless generosity.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Robert E. Line, and their six children: Gregory Line, Michael Line, Stephanie (Peter) Bolger, Douglas (Betty) Line, Laurette (Ted) Smith and Kathleen (Ken Harm) Bixler. Jean and Bob are the proud grandparents of eighteen: Carrie, Patrick, Andrew, Sara, Bethany, Robert, Michael, Scott, Benjamin, Joshua, Randy, Christine, Danielle, Alicia, Catherine, Aaron and John, and great-grandparents of four: Kellen, Declan, Jacob and Elizabeth. Jean is also survived by four siblings, Richard Hammann, Arlene Guerriero, Robert Hammann and William Hammann. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded by sister, Carol Gilkeson, granddaughter, Katelyn and son-in-law, Bill Bixler.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Jean's church, St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2nd & Walnut Streets, Boiling Springs, PA with her pastor, Kevin Stout officiating. Private burial with family was in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
