Chink Orris, 82, of Carlisle, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born June 23, 1932 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late John and Bertha Baker Orris.
He was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1952. He worked for United Telephone, later Sprint, for thirty-five years as a cable splicer. He was a member of the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church. Chink was a US Army veteran. He worked in the pits at the Silver Springs Raceway with his cousin, Wayne Boyd, who owned race car #59. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle. Chink enjoyed his morning "Breakfast Crew" at the Farmer's Market; and also his high school class gatherings monthly for breakfast.
Surviving are his wife of forty-three years, Dottie Orris of Carlisle; two sons, Gary Orris (wife, Brenda) of Newville and Keith Orris (wife, Suzanne) of Haverford, PA; one daughter, Jennifer Yeater (husband, Doug, Jr.) of Carlisle; one step-son, Todd Sheller (wife, Kathryne) of Ashburn, VA; one brother, Richard Orris (wife, Martha) of Carlisle; three grandchildren, David Andrew Sheller, Richard William Sheller and Destini Lynn Yeater; and one great-grandchild, Drew.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Robert Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle with military honors conducted by Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
