Clarence Hartman, 82, of Carlisle, died on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle.
Born May 1, 1935 in Carlisle to the late Clarence Frederick and Pearl Mountz Hartman, he was the widower of Janet J. Bowermaster Hartman.
Clarence was formerly employed by Town and Country, Carlisle; Howard Johnson, Plainfield; Jacksonville Elementary School, Walnut Bottom; and retired from C.H. Masland and Son, Carlisle. After retirement he worked at the Association for The Blind, Newville. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to bluegrass and gospel music, playing checkers and BINGO at Cumberland Crossings, working jig-saw puzzles and watching Gun Smoke. Clarence adored animals, especially his dogs.
Clarence is survived by: one son, Clarence “CJ” Hartman Jr. (Companion Katie Stevens) of Shippensburg; one sister, Ethel Crozier of Lloysville; one brother, John (wife Eva) Hartman of Carlisle; and two stepsons, Leroy (wife Wilma) Bowermaster and Roy (wife Mary) Bowermaster both of Shippensburg. In addition to his parents and his spouse, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Paul and his stepson, Larry K. Bowermaster.
A service celebrating Clarence’s life will be private and held at the convenience of his family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.
