Clara L. Zawadski, 87, of Carlisle and formerly of Shiremanstown died gently at her daughter’s home in Carlisle Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011.
Born May 2, 1923, in Plymouth, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Helen Wasilewski Stravinski and the widow of Alfonso S. Zawadski, to whom she was married to for 55 years.
Clara created, designed and cut the wood blocks for the Plymouth High School newspaper. She was owner of C and D Antiques.
She was a member of Capital Region Antiques Dealers Association, Cumberland County Historical Society and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Clara volunteered for several of the area churches. She was an artist, clothing designer, dabbled in craft making and her true love was poetry.
Surviving are two daughters, Juanita Zawadski, Carlisle, and Sandra Zawadski, Australia; a sister-in-law, Veronica Stravinski, State College; a grandson, Alex Zawadski, Australia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Stravinski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:45 a.m. Friday in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 E. Simpson St., Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Chester Snyder as celebrant. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a viewing from 9:45 a.m. until the time of the mass.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
