Clair E. "Gene" Stambaugh

Clair E. "Gene" Stambaugh, 74, of Loysville, died Monday, March 16, 2015 at West Shore Pinnacle Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
He was born October 7, 1940 in Carlisle to the late Alvin J. and Margaret E. Kessler Stambaugh.
Gene was a retired Goodyear tire salesman working for Sheaffer Brothers for 40 years. He had worked part-time for Cumberland County Historical Society and was a life member of the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church. Gene liked to hunt and fish in his younger days. He enjoyed the outdoors, picnics, playing bingo, amusement parks, his video games and reading the daily newspaper. Most of all, Gene enjoyed the time he spent with his loving wife Barbara, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Rice Stambaugh of Loysville; two daughters, B. Shirlene Monismith and husband Barry of Loysville and Gena Campbell and husband William of Landisburg; a brother, Barry J. Stambaugh of Carlisle; a sister, Janet Alexander and husband Ray of Carlisle; six grandsons; one granddaughter; four great-grandsons; and three great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Stambaugh.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle with Rev. Kenneth Hoke officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the church Thursday evening, March 19, 2015 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Friday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
