Christine M. Wood

Christine M. Wood, age 76, of Newville, PA and formerly of Davidsville, PA passed away on April 29, 2016 at Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA with her loving family at her side.
She was born January 8, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to the late Ladislav and Rita VanBelleghem Vistein.
Christine was a very active member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and its choir in Hooversville, PA. She had worked at the Conemaugh Township High School in Davidsville, PA. She was a graduate of Independence High School, Independence, OH. Christine was an avid oil painter and enjoyed gardening. Family meant the most to Christine especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Louis F. Wood of Newville; three sons, David M. Wood of Steelton, PA, James C. (and wife Karen) Wood of Harrisonburg, VA and Stephen C. Wood of York, PA; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Andrea, Nathan, Michael and Evan; two sisters, Carol Toth and Geraldine Vistein; and four brothers, Paul, Edward, Lawrence and David Vistein. In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by a brother, James Vistein and a sister, Rita Sieckowski.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Our Lady of the Visitation, 305 N. Prince Street, Shippensburg, PA with Rev. Father Dwight D. Schlaline as Celebrant. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
