Chester B. "Chet" Argast

April 20, 1927 — August 22, 2015

Chester "Chet" Burnett Argast, Jr., age 88, of Carlisle, passed away with his wife and son at his side on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Newark, NJ to the late Chester B. Argast, Sr. and Gertrude Emma Doty Argast on April 20, 1927 and was preceded in death by his older sister, Miriam Jane Argast Ingram.
Chet graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology as a chemical engineer and subsequently moved to Carlisle, PA where he was employed by and retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation in Mt. Holly Springs after 26 years of employment. Among many of his interests throughout his life was being a past president of the Carlisle Area Science Advisory Committee, a past member of the Letort Regional Authority and a past member of the Dickinson College Science Information Group. Chet was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Gladys Ann Lauster Argast; a daughter, Cathy Lynn Barrick; and a son, Christopher G. Argast, all of Carlisle.
Chet's wishes were to be cremated. There will be no viewing. A private family graveside burial will be held at the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ at a later date.
Chet's family would especially like to thank all the dedicated doctors, nurses and the entire staff at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the extraordinary and compassionate, loving care given to Chet and his family during his stay there.
