Charles E. Nelson, age 69, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Claremont Nursing & Rehab Center.
He was born April 3, 1948 in Carlisle to the late Charles F. and G. Anne (Elliott) Nelson.
Charles worked for the PA Turnpike Commission for over 30 years and proudly served his country in the United States Army and the Army National Guard where he retired as Sergeant. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and reading history and geography novels. Charles loved Celtic music and was very proud of his Scottish heritage.
He is survived by: his wife of 43 years, Deborah L. (Price) Nelson; a daughter, Nicolle (husband Steven) Delp; two grandsons, Brody L. and Kaleb I. Delp; a sister, Mary L. (husband John) Fourlas; a sister-in-law, Cindy Anderson; a brother-in-law, Carl (wife Kathy) Hughes; three nieces, Georgia Fourlas, Lia Fourlas and Tonja (husband Chuck) Witmer; and two nephews, Troy (husband Clifton) Ruppert and Jason Anderson. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Nathan C. Nelson and his mother and father-in-law, Carl and Rena M. Hughes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor Wayne Good officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
