On May 30, 2024 Charles W. Donnelly Sr. went home to the Lord and to be with his wife who had passed 2 months before him. He was 95 years old. Chuck was born in a farmhouse off of 114 in Silver Spring Township on January 12, 1929 to Jesse and Cicely (Weldon) Donnelly both deceased. He had four siblings, Jane McKinney (deceased), Edith Reamer (deceased), Betty Cortner in Florida and Jesse Donnelly (Trudy) in Carlisle. Chuck was a Submariner during the Korean War and served from 1948 til 1952. Out of the 3 subs he served on his favorite sub was the USS Sea Poacher. He married Jean Bowers as soon as he was discharged. They were married for 71 years. Chuck was a machinist/mold maker for most of his life. He worked at TRW inc. from 1952 till 1965 then AMP Inc. from 1965 to 1991. He was on the AMPRA Board of Directors for 8 years. He taught Junior Bowling for 6 years at Trindle Bowling Alley. He was very involved with the USS Sea Poacher Association for 15 years.
Chuck deeply loved his wife Jean (Bowers) Donnelly who died on March 21st of this year. He is survived by his daughter LouAnn Guilles, his son Charles W. Donnelly Jr. (Roberta), his son Dean Donnelly (Karen) and many nieces and nephews. His grandchildren: Shannon Marciano (Rich), Fred Guilles (Danielle), Jason Donnelly (Anna), Andrew Donnelly, Katelynn Piper (Travis). His Great grandchildren: Hailey and Harper Marciano, Bentley Guilles and Landon Conrad, Jameson Thomson Donnelly and Tamen and Amelia Piper.
Chuck's heart was broken when he lost his wife Jean. He is now with Jesus and celebrating with the love of his life…his wife Jean.
Hospice of Central Pennsylvania Harrisburg was a blessing to his family in his end days. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be submitted to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.
A celebration of Life Ceremony for Jean and Chuck will be held at the convenience of the family at Tree of Life Church, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
