Catherine M. "Cass" Mathews

Catherine M. “Cass” Mathews, 87, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at her home.
She was born July 2, 1934, in Dundalk, MD to the late Robert E. Moon II and Catherine M. (Whiteford) Moon.
Cass was a gifted artisan who was best known for her sewing, painting, crafting, baking, gardening and her love of designing and making award-winning miniatures.
In addition to serving her communities in many ways, she was most proud of her involvement in, and eventually, the presidency of the Alta California Regional Center; a nonprofit focused on helping the developmentally disabled. Cass will be remembered for many things; she never met a stranger, loved the art of conversation, could never put a good book down and always considered herself a southerner, though she spent much of her life on the west coast.
She is survived by three children, Greg Mathews of North Carolina, Scott (wife Heather) Mathews of California, and Diana (husband Kevin) Roadcap of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Alex Mathews of Washington, Jessica (husband Chase) Dirkes of Washington, Sean Mathews of Philadelphia, and Zane Mathews of California; and two siblings, Barbara (husband Larry) Laufer of North Carolina, and Robert E. Moon III (wife Pam) of Oregon. In addition to her parents, Cass was preceded in death by her former husband Glenn Mathews.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
