Carolyn Ann Spankuch

March 25, 1944 — April 23, 2019

Carolyn Ann Spankuch, 75, of Carlisle, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in her home.
She was born March 25, 1944 in Albany, NY to the late Ralph and Hazel (Giguiere) Soule and she was the widow of Harvey Henry Spankuch to whom she had been married for 45 years.
Carolyn was formerly employed as a social worker at the Cumberland County Public Assistance Office. She later earned her nursing degree and worked as a registered nurse at Carlisle Hospital until she retired. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her family. Carolyn was instrumental in establishing fundraisers to bring awareness to Angelman Syndrome. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Carolyn is survived by her three children, Leann (husband C. Bobby) Whitaker of Sanford, NC, Kevin (wife Laurie) Spankuch of Carlisle, and Christopher Spankuch (significant other April Mathews) of Haines City, FL; seven grandchildren, Jaime (husband John) South of Hagerstown, MD, James Whitaker of Sanford, NC, CPL Kyle Whitaker of Sanford, NC, Michelle Whitaker of Carlisle, Cody Spankuch of Haines City, FL, Michael Spankuch of Carlisle, and Cameron Spankuch of Denham Springs, LA; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph “Butch” (wife Lynn) Soule of North Hero, VT; family friend, Carl King of Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Stone and her sister, Norma Mashtare.
A service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date.
