Carole Jo Heusner, 79, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Camp Hill, with her family by her side.

Carole Jo was born on September 27, 1944, the daughter of the late Charles “Eb” and Gladys (Rockwell) Hassler, and was raised in Newville, PA. 

Carole Jo graduated from Big Spring High School and attended Shippensburg University before returning to work as a teacher in the Big Spring School District, where she met her husband, the late Albert P. Heusner, Jr. 

Her family and friends will remember her as a devoted wife and proud mother and grandmother who enjoyed various hobbies, from volunteer organizations and bowling leagues to needlework and card groups. She attended Dickinson Presbyterian Church where she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. She later developed a love of cruising and traveling and spent her final years doting over her family and closest friends.

Surviving are her two sons, Jeremy (wife Kelli McAfee) of Washington, D.C., and Patrick (husband Jessy Burnett) of NY, four grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her late husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Maxine (Hassler) Oyler. 

Carole Jo will be interred beside her parents in Shippensburg and a memorial service will be held at Dickinson Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 21, at 11:00am with Pastor Neal McCulloch officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s charity of choice.
