Carol Miller

March 31, 1943 — January 10, 2025

Carol Lucille (DeGraaff) Miller, 81, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on January 10th, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Carlisle, PA.

Carol was born in Patterson, NJ to the late Cornelius and Clara DeGraaff. She was the 10th of 11 children. She married John B. Miller (deceased) in 1964 and they remained married until his death in 2021. Together they raised 3 children.

She is survived by her younger sister, her son and his wife, daughter and her husband, grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.

Carol never finished a college degree, but she was always a teacher at heart. Her life was spent teaching children and younger adults in many venues. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Cub Scout leader, a Brownies leader, a Girl Scout leader, and an AWANA leader. She did many activities with her own kids and their friends. She enjoyed flowers, games and puzzles. She helped home school her grandchildren and ‘adopted’ grandchildren. She was skilled with a sewing machine and made dresses and repaired clothing for family members and friends. She was part of a prayer shawl ministry, crocheting prayer shawls for many people. She also crocheted baby blankets, and afghans. She enjoyed cross-stitching. She also enjoyed teaching others her crafty skills. Throughout her life she volunteered for many church functions. Carol was a very generous person, always looking for opportunities to bless others. She was very grateful that God blessed her with grandchildren (of whom she was very proud), and time to see them grow up. Her family feels very blessed to be her family.

Carol loved the Lord Jesus and lived a life of service. She said she wanted God to have the glory in every situation of her life, even on her roughest days.

A service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Rd. Carlisle, PA 17013. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:30 p.m., and the service will begin at 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to share how Carol blessed their lives.
