Carla Maxine Souder

Carla Maxine Souder, 90, of Carlisle and formerly of Shermans Dale, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Church of God Home.
She was born February 28, 1928 in Dellville to the late Clarence Lenard and Lily May (Smith) Weldon and was the widow of Charles Robert Souder.
Maxine attended Duncannon High School. She was a member of Shermans Dale United Methodist Church and their Ladies Aide Society. Maxine was a former member of the Shermans Dale Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, the Carroll Township Senior Citizens and was one of the first teachers’ aides at Carroll Elementary. She retired from Quaker Oats in Shiremanstown after many years of service. In her free time Maxine enjoyed gardening, watching Golden Girls and Bonanza and spending time with her family.
She is survived by son, Lester G. (wife Larenda) Souder of Dillsburg; two daughters, Linda K. Way of Carlisle and Deborah A. (husband Dennis) Sheaffer of Shermans Dale; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Maxine was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer and Collier; five sisters, Beatrice, Edna, Annie, Betty and Lillian; granddaughter, Davina Way; great-grandson, Kellan Souder; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Hoover) Souder and granddaughter-in-law, Heather Souder.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Shermans Dale United Methodist Church with Pastor Travis J. Allshouse officiating. Burial will follow at Youngs United Methodist Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maxine to Shermans Dale United Methodist Church, 50 Windy Hill Road Shermans Dale, PA 17090, Shermans Dale Fire Company, 5450 Spring Road Shermans Dale, PA 17090 or to Shermans Dale Ambulance Association, 260 Richwine Road Shermans Dale, PA 17090.
