Bruce A. Hinderliter, age 73, of Carlisle, left those he loved on Earth to join loved ones in Heaven.
He was born on September 3, 1942 in Punxsutawney, PA to the late Meade and Mary Ruth Kiel Hinderliter.
Bruce graduated from Warren High School in 1960, Muskingum University in 1964 and received his MDiv. from the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1967. He was ordained by the Lake Erie Presbytery in 1967 and served as Associate Minister of First Presbyterian Church, Baltimore (1967-1971) and Minister of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church (1971-1986) and Lewistown Presbyterian Church until his retirement in 2007. Bruce loved his family, his God, the Church, music and sports of every kind. Most recently, he supported Simon and India's participation in Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Philip's soccer, Callie's dance and youth basketball and his son-in-law's music.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis A. Mann Hinderliter (married May 7, 1965); daughters: Susan Hinderliter and Christina (and husband Andy) Hoke; four grandchildren: Simon, India and Philip Hoke and Callie Hinderliter; brothers: Dr. Eric (and wife Becky) Hinderliter of Lithuania and Carl (and wife Carol) Hinderliter of Greenville, PA; and a sister Becky Steis of Cleveland, GA. He was preceded in death by his firstborn son who died shortly after birth.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jennifer McKenna and Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Gibelius officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, 5 N. Orange St., Carlisle, PA 17013-2727 or to Presbyterian World Mission, PO Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700, checks should be made payable to the Presbyterian Church (USA) for CEO account #E200361.
