Brenda Kay Martin Wilkinson, 68, of Carlisle died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center after a yearlong battle with aggressive brain cancer.
Born June 12, 1946 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of June Shearer Martin and the late Ralph Martin, Jr.
She was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1964 and a graduate of Lock Haven University with a Bachelor's Degree in 1968. She received a Master's Degree from St. Bonaventure in 1972. She worked for the Bradford Area Schools from 1968-1988, then for the Lamar University of Texas. She worked as a realtor in North Carolina, Illinois and Louisiana. She worked in Educational Sales while living in Ohio. In 2004 she formed her own Educational Sales Organization, based in Carlisle. Her husband, Tom joined her in 2005, they retired together in 2013.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Tom Wilkinson of Carlisle; two daughters, Jennifer Mikus (husband, Lance) of Chillicothe, OH and Amy Slack (husband, Shane) of Chardon, OH; her five grandchildren, who were the light of her life are Oscar and Ella Mikus, Maggie, Morgan Kay and Tommy Slack; Sisters: Bonnie Mahoney of Carlisle and Barbara Kravitz (husband, James) of Wellington, FL and brother, R. Scott Martin (wife, Pam) of Carlisle. Also several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
