Beverly A. Smitley, age 90, of Mechanicsburg died Friday, June 1 at The Asbury Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 16, 1928 in Binghamton, NY to the late John Leo and Beatrice Garrison (Dailey) Carr and was the widow of Kenneth R. Smitley.
Beverly worked as an office manager for the Commonwealth of PA and served on the Joint Legislative Conservation Committee. She was a former member of Buckingham Presbyterian Church in Berlin, MD. Beverly enjoyed creating jewelry, painting, nature’s beauty, and traveling. She was a 1946 graduate of Johnson City High School in Johnson City, NY.
She is survived by: three daughters, Jerelyn L. Franklin of Feasterville, PA, Karen S. Gleim (husband John W. Jr.) of Carlisle, PA, and Heide L. Lee (husband Lester L.) of VA; eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David A. Yerger.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Village Care Assurance Fund, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
