Betty J. Carey, 84, of Mt. Holly Springs, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at her home.
She was born June 6, 1938, in Frackville to the late William H. and Kathryn (Evans) Blackwell.
Betty and her family moved many times over the years because of her ex-husband’s military career before eventually settling in the Carlisle area 50 years ago. She worked most of her life in food service for several area day cares. Betty loved cooking even when she wasn’t at work and often made delicious meals and treats for family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters: Virginia (husband Gary) Svatek of Williamsburg, VA and Kathy (husband Bob) Hippensteel of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; one son, Norman (wife Leslie) Koch Sr. of Carlisle, PA; one sister, Shirley Sippie of New Boston, PA; eight grandchildren, Bobby (wife Megan) Reed, Gregory (wife Nicole) Morris, Michael (wife Lindsey) Reed, Melissa Hockley, Norman M. Koch Jr., Danielle (husband James) Zimmerman, Amy Koch, and Joshua Koch; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
