Betty C. Allen

Betty C. Allen, 89, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born August 30, 1923 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Rice Calaman and the widow of Paul Allen, Jr.
She was formerly employed by Thompson Book Store of Carlisle, Pizzo Crystal Company of Carlisle, New Cumberland Army Depot in the commissary, the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, where she retired and also at Broad Street Market in Harrisburg for many years to help the family business “Allen Orchards”. She was member of Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Betty was a happy person who loved life until the end.
Surviving are one son, Gregory Allen (and wife, Kate) of GA; two daughters, Deborah Behrens of MD and Barbara Fair (and husband, Richard) of Carlisle; one brother, Edward Calaman (and wife, Myrtle) of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy, Jackie, Joe, Jessie, Shannon, and Bryan; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Calaman and one granddaughter, Amy.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 South Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Walt L. Frankenberry officiating.
