Bernice "Geraldine" Orris

Bernice “Geraldine” (Alexander) Orris, age 89, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
She was born January 14, 1928 in Mifflintown, PA to the late J. Roy and Emma (Clark) Alexander.
Bernice graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Class of 1949. She married her husband, Donald, on November 1, 1953 and retired from PA Labor and Industry after 10 years of service to become a homemaker. She and Donald enjoyed many bus trips to shows and dinner theaters. They also traveled to the western states, the New England states, Nashville, TN and Hawaii. Bernice loved her church and Christian music. She was a member of the National AARP and Carlisle First Church of God, where she sang in the Senior Choir for over 30 years and belonged to the Ladies Bible Class and Jolly Old Timers.
She is survived by: her husband of 64 years, Donald E. Orris of Carlisle; brother-in-law, Glenn Swartz of East Waterford, PA; and two nephews. In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Alexander, Anna Swartz and her brother, Robert Alexander.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, PA with Revs. Michael R. Poe and Gregory Hench co-officiating. Burial will be held privately at the Buffalo Cemetery, Ickesburg, PA. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
