Bernard S. Meals, 81 of Carlisle, died Monday February 27, 2012 in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born August 14, 1930 in Mechanicsburg, the son of the late Melvin and Helen Day Meals and the widow of Lois Cornman Meals.
Mr. Meals was a 1948 graduate of Newville High School. He was truck driver retiring from Cressler and also drove for, Eazor, Bowman, Strickland and Shaffer. He was one of the most entertaining karaoke DJ’s in the area, he was known as Barney’s Karaoke. Bernard was known as Chief Red Cloud. He loved horses, riding, competing, rodeos and horseshows and was a member of Bonnybrook trail riding club. He loved to entertain people and loved his family.
Surviving are five sons, Michael Meals and his friend, Mary Stonebraker, Newville, Douglas Meals and his wife Rosemary, Carlisle, Stanley Meals and his wife Brenda, Newville, Randall Meals and his wife Kimberly, Carlisle and Bradley Shawn Meals and his wife Gina, Newville, a daughter-in-law, Jackie Meals, Newville, two sisters, Shirley DeJoseph and her husband Michael, Mechanicsburg and Patricia Hosler and her husband William, Mechanicsburg, a brother Wayne Meals and his wife Cathy, Carlisle, twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Meals and two brothers, Dr. Robert Meals and Gerald Meals
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday March 2, 2012 in Carlisle Brethren in Christ, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle with the Rev. Alan Robison and Rev. Samuel Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing from 6:00 – 8:00 Thursday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle and from 10:00 am until the time of the services on Friday in the church.
