Bernadine K. Caldwell

Bernadine K. Caldwell, 98, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home.
She was born March 23, 1921 in Weissport, Carbon County, PA to the late James E. “Ted” and Louella (Smoyer) Kunkle and was the widow of John E. “Jack” Caldwell.
After graduating from high school and attending the Allentown Business College, Bernadine worked as an administrative assistant for the federal government in Washington DC and Honolulu, Hawaii. She then turned her attention to being a homemaker and raising her family. She enjoyed volunteering at the US Army War College Historical Museum and the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, both in Carlisle.
Bernadine is survived by her children, Caryn C. (husband Robert K.) Hartman of Mt. Holly Springs and John M. (wife Judith A.) Caldwell of Elizabethtown, PA; four grandchildren, Matthew C. Hartman, Andrew R. Hartman, John M. Caldwell II and Timothy J. Caldwell; and two great-granddaughters, Charlotte A. Caldwell and Ava G. Caldwell. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernadine was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbur Kunkle and her sister, Betty Trainer.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg at the convenience of the family.
