Barry R. Brickner, 57, of Carlisle, died September 11, 2012 at M. S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1955 in Carlisle, he was the son of Nellie M. Lebo Brickner and the late Donald Leon Brickner.
Barry was a member of Bethany Evangelical Church, Carlisle. After his son Nathan passed, he became passionate about the Refuge Youth Ministry. In addition to his devotion to the church, he ran his own business and worked with Wilson Paving and Stover Farms. He instilled his work ethic in his children, helping his son Jared establish his own business. Barry was never too busy to take time to listen to others. A man with a servant’s heart, he will be remembered for his many random acts of kindness. He possessed a unique sense of humor and a sharp wit. Barry loved hunting, fishing, and socializing at local eateries with friends.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 34 years, Joni (Gouffer) Brickner of Carlisle; one son, Jared Brickner (and wife, Amy) of Carlisle; two daughters, Meredith Brickner of Elizabethtown and Hannah Brickner of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Sharon Gouffer of Carlisle and Barbara Trostle (and husband, Robert) of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Graeson and Colter Brickner; and two nephews, Tim and Steve Trostle. He was preceded in death by one son, Nathan Brickner.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Amy Moreno officiating. Burial will be in Letort Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
