Barbara Ruth Davis

Barbara Ruth Davis, age 87, formerly of Saugerties, NY, Vero Beach, FL, and Mechanicsburg, PA, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle, PA. She was born January 22, 1929 in Johnson City, NY to the late Collins and Ruth (Nevell) Abbey.

Barbara was a graduate of Windsor High School, Windsor, NY. She and her husband Bill were charter members of Grace Community Evangelical Free Church in Lake Katrine, NY, where she worked as secretary and served in many other capacities. A gifted soprano, she was a frequent soloist, and she and Bill were active in multiple ensembles and choral societies.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Willard (Bill) Davis of Carlisle, PA and Mechanicsburg, PA; daughter, Lynanne (and husband D. Scott) Palmer of Cottonwood, AZ; two sons, Robert (and wife Anne) Davis of Lake Katrine, NY and James (and wife Norma) Davis of Mechanicsburg, PA; brother, Donald Abbey of Binghamton, NY; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Dean.

Barbara will be remembered for her beautiful lullabies, the loving heart that radiated through her smile, and her faithful devotion to God and to her family.

A memorial service will be held on January 28 at 10:30 at Country Meadows, Building 5, 4833 E Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA.
